Community
We cannot accomplish our mission alone. But with the help of other like-minded people, we can reach many others.
Some of our friends in the GTA who can also help support donor drives:
- The Other Half: Their mission is to increase the number of stem cell donor registrants of Chinese origin in the stem cell registries worldwide.
- Save A Latin Life: informs the Latin/Hispanic Community about the great need for people in their community to register to donate Stem Cells/Marrow, dispelling myths and making them aware of the great need to participate in this registry.
- Lifeline: is dedicated to raising awareness of the need for blood and stem cells, and to encourage students to become life-long supporters of the effort. They also help facilitate mobile blood clinics and stem cell registration events on the University of Toronto Mississauga campus.
Globally:
- South Asian Marrow Association of Recruiters (SAMAR): serves patients diagnosed with leukemia and other fatal blood disorders from the South Asian community and other minority groups who are in search of Blood Stem Cell /Marrow donors in the U.S.
- USA – Be The Match: is the donor registry operated by the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP). They have been helping patients receive the transplants they need for more than 20 years.
- UK – The British Bone Marrow Registry: is a division of NHS Blood and Transplant, working in co-operation with the other UK bone marrow/blood donor registries and the NHS Cord Blood Bank. Stem cell donations from cord blood can be made at specialist hospitals within the NHS.
